Inner SE Portland, near OMSI
Photos taken during a field trip with the Photographing Portland PCC class in January, 2025. We started at the CLIMB Center on SE Water Ave and walked along the Willamette river, near I-5, to OMSI.
Manzanita, Oregon
There's this creek that comes in through the dunes and across the beach to the ocean; a little world all to it's own.
NE Portland
Along NE Lombard Street and out at Broughton Beach by the Columbia River. A really great day for clouds. All of these photographs were taken with a Leica Q3 I was trying out for a few of days in November of 2024.
Burlington Northern Railroad Bridge
This railroad bridge goes across the Willamette River, upstream from the St. Johns Bridge. When I drove out through NW Portland to this bridge, I discovered that there's no place to park within walking distance. Undaunted, I found a place to park about a mile and a half away, then rode my bike to the bridge. The palettes were on the way to the bridge.
Pier Park, St. Johns
My good friend, Randy McKeeman, introduced me to this park in January of 2022. I think of him often when I return to be in the presence of these tall trees.
Burnside Bridge
It's not so much about the bridge itself, but really about the area along the Willamette River and the sky.
Downtown Portland buildings
When I have some time, and I'm in the area, there's often a building that causes me to slow down and pause.
Broughton Beach
Since around 2020, I've been visiting Broughton Beach, which is located on the Columbia River, close to the Portland Airport.
Broadway Bridge
In the fall of 2020, I enrolled in a photography class, Developing a Personal Project. For my final project, I started working with a collection of photographs I had taken of the Broadway Bridge. The letter to Behn, my father, grew out of my work with the photos.
